It’s Like A Membership to a Movie Theater If You’re Into That
“Everybody doesn’t go the movie every single day,” says Spikes. “We found in our beta trials that there are people who over-use the service and people who under-use the service. Overall, there is a balancing act. There isn’t an infinite number of movies or unlimited time to go to the movies. We found in our research that we have an economic model that works, and that’s why we’re moving forward with the next phase.”
All-you-can-watch monthly movie passes is something that I would have absolutely loved in college, because my friends and I frequently watched more than one movie a week at the movie theater we had across the street from our campus. The pass costs $24.99 to $39.99 per month per person depending on where you live (I’m guessing it’d be $39.99 in New York, where tickets cost about $14 each now). It probably won’t save the movie industry, but it’s something to consider if you’re the sort of person who watches every single movie during Oscar season so you can say that Meryl Streep really was better than everyone else that year.
