Americans Pouring Ranch All Over Everything

The Salt reports that NPD Group, a consumer market information company, has found that ranch dressing has becoming the number one dressing “shipped to the country’s cafeterias, restaurants and institutions.”

In fact, ranch dressing has won the Miss Popularity contest for salad toppers for years now, and because it’s so adaptable, the NPD folks have dubbed it “the Swiss Army knife” of salad dressings. It might even be the “new ketchup.”

I don’t know about it being the “new ketchup,” but ranch dressing was a favorite in my household when I was growing up until I switched to making my own dressing (balsamic or lemon vinaigrette).

There’s even ranch flavored soda! I’ll pass on that.
